Byron is a native of Jacksonville, Illinois. He attended Illinois College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree Cum Laude in Political Science in 1987. Byron attended Southern Illinois University at Carbondale School of Law receiving a Juris Doctorate degree in 1990. Byron was sworn into the Illinois Bar on March 13, 1991. Mr. Sims joined the law firm of Phelps, Carmody, Kasten, Verticchio & Ruyle in 1991, as an associate and became a partner in 1997. Byron concentrates his practice in personal injury law, bankruptcy, family law, adoption, and general civil litigation. He has handled appeals before the Illinois Appellate Court and has done trial work in Macoupin County and Federal Court for the Central and Southern Districts of Illinois. Byron is licensed to practice law in Illinois and in the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Southern and Northern Districts. Byron is a member of the Macoupin County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. Byron is a member of and past president of the Carlinville Lion’s Club. |
